Night Skiing in America (and Beyond): Every Resort with Lights

2026-07-05 · Guides

Every lit slope in our database, in one place

Night skiing turns a ski area into a weeknight habit instead of a weekend commitment, and it's more common than most people realize — it's just scattered across hundreds of individual resort websites, none of which link to each other. We track night skiing as a field on every mountain in our database, and 161 of them currently light up after dark. Here's the full list, organized by region, every single one linked to its own page.

The two biggest numbers on this entire list, for context: Panorama Mountain Resort in British Columbia has 4,265 feet of lift-served vertical with lights, and SkiWelt Ellmau in Austria lights up 279 trails — more than any other resort here, lit or not. Neither is what most people picture when they hear "night skiing."

For the full rundown of every mountain we track, lit or not, see our mountains directory. If you're building a season around a specific pass, check our Ikon and Indy pass coverage too.

The regional split below tells its own story about who night skiing is actually built for. The Northeast and Midwest — regions dense with mountains close enough for a weeknight run after work — account for 65 of the 161 resorts here, well over a third of the total. Canada and the Mid-Atlantic add another 42 between them. The rest is scattered across the Rockies, the West, Japan, upstate New York, and a handful of outliers overseas. Night skiing, in other words, tracks population density and commute distance about as much as it tracks mountain size.

Northeast (32)

The Northeast has more night-skiing areas than any other U.S. region in our data, tied with the Midwest — no surprise given how many resorts here are close enough to home for an after-work lap. Waterville Valley Resort leads the pack at 2,020 feet of lit vertical, with Bolton Valley Resort (1,704 ft) and Windham Mountain Club, NY (1,600 ft) right behind.

Coronet Peak in New Zealand (1,516 ft) and Mt Buller — Australia (1,329 ft) are the only Southern Hemisphere entries on the list.

Find your weeknight mountain

161 resorts is a lot to scroll through, but the pattern holds everywhere: night skiing isn't reserved for tiny local bumps or for the biggest destination resorts — it shows up at both ends, from a 200-foot community hill to a 4,265-foot Canadian giant. Pick your region above, click through to whichever mountain is realistically a weeknight drive, and check its page for the terrain and pass details before you go.
