About Great Bear Ski Valley
Great Bear Ski Valley turned an old gravel pit on the edge of Sioux Falls into a ski hill back in 1966, and the city still co-manages it today. It bills itself as eastern South Dakota's largest ski area, with three lifts serving 14 runs over a 182-foot vertical, night skiing, and a terrain park, plus a tubing hill and cross-country trails alongside the downhill runs. On the Indy Pass, it's proof you don't need mountains to build a real ski culture on the prairie.
