About Shimokura
Shimokura is the steeper, quieter half of Hachimantai Resort up in Iwate Prefecture, linked to sister area Panorama by a free shuttle. Locals send experts here first — the Diamond course's Wall of Shimokura pitches to 37 degrees, among the steepest lift-served runs in Tohoku. Just 7 trails and 3 lifts keep it small, but the terrain punches above its size, and lights stay on for night runs. It's on the Indy Pass, a low-key pick for skiers who've done the big Niseko circuit and want something rawer.
