About Howelsen Hill Ski Area
Owned and run by the City of Steamboat Springs, Howelsen Hill is the oldest continuously operating ski area in North America and has turned out dozens of Olympians. It's small by design: 440 vertical feet across 17 alpine trails and four lifts, plus nine Nordic trails and one of the largest natural ski-jump complexes anywhere. Lights keep it running into the evening, and a terrain park gives freestyle skiers a reason to stick around after the jumpers clear out.
