Ski Mountains in Japan

Japan is FirstChair's biggest region outside North America — 42 resorts, concentrated in Hokkaido and the Japanese Alps, known for some of the most reliable powder snow anywhere. Niseko United and Rusutsu anchor the Hokkaido side, while the Hakuba Valley cluster — Happo-One, Cortina, Iwatake, and half a dozen neighboring resorts — dominates Honshu. Access runs mostly through Epic Partner and Indy rather than a single dedicated Japan pass, and the region skews toward smaller, family-run resorts rather than American-style mega-resorts, worth remembering if you're used to lift lines and base villages instead of onsens and ramen shops.
