About Madarao Mountain Resort 斑尾高原スキー場
Madarao Mountain Resort straddles the Nagano-Niigata border and has built its reputation on tree skiing, claiming more marked tree-run courses than anywhere else in Japan, all on natural powder. Open since 1972, it's hosted FIS freestyle moguls World Cup events and sits within about 40 minutes of both Nozawa Onsen and Myoko Kogen, making it an easy add to a longer Nagano powder trip. Terrain parks round out the lift-served side of the mountain. Its Indy Pass status has flip-flopped in recent seasons, so double-check before you plan a trip around it.
