About Mount Southington
Mount Southington opened in 1964 on a former dairy farm in Plantsville, Connecticut, and has grown into a busy day-and-night hill near Hartford. Its 425-foot vertical drop spreads across 14 trails and 51 acres, with six beginner runs, a handful of intermediate and advanced pitches, and two terrain parks including a beginner-focused Snowball Park. The area runs full snowmaking and lights all of its terrain for night skiing, an unusual combination for a mountain this size. A modernized fleet of triple and double chairs, a handle tow, and magic carpets keeps its steady learn-to-ski crowd moving all winter long.
