In Jeffersonville, Vermont, Smugglers' Notch holds the highest vertical drop in the northern part of the state at 2,610 feet, spread across 78 trails and 8 lifts — including Vermont's only triple-black-diamond run, The Black Hole. It's independent, skipping the big multi-mountain passes entirely, and has long leaned into being a family destination with strong kids' programs. Uphill skiers are welcome outside operating hours if you'd rather earn your turns.
