About Cochran's Ski Area
Cochran's Ski Area is a nonprofit hill in Richmond, Vermont, run by the Cochran family since 1961 and still community-owned today, the first ski area in the country to earn 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. It's best known for producing four Olympic ski racers, including Barbara Ann Cochran's 1972 slalom gold, and the family still teaches lessons on the same slope. Three lifts, a rope tow, a T-bar, and a beginner handle tow, serve eight trails over about 350 feet of vertical. There's no pass affiliation; it exists purely to keep skiing affordable for local kids.
