About Turoa

Turoa runs down the southern slopes of Mount Ruapehu in Tongariro National Park, on New Zealand's North Island, and reopened under new ownership, Pure Turoa, after its previous operator went into liquidation in 2023. It's part of the Powder Alliance, giving Northern Hemisphere passholders a way onto Ruapehu's southern side during the New Zealand winter. The field operates separately from Whakapapa on the mountain's other side, each with its own lifts, terrain, and management. Ongoing volcanic activity on Ruapehu is part of the deal here, as it is anywhere on the mountain.
