About Veterans Memorial Recreation Area
Veterans Memorial Recreation Area, known locally as The Vets, is an all-volunteer community ski hill in Franklin, New Hampshire, run by the nonprofit Franklin Outing Club since 1961. A rope tow, a T-bar, and a magic carpet added in January 2026 serve 10 trails over about 50 skiable acres within the 680-acre Great Gains Forest, for a 230-foot vertical drop. Thursday night sessions run under lights, and the hill doubles as a summer spot for mountain biking, hiking, and disc golf. It's a grassroots, low-cost option kept alive by local volunteers. Veterans Memorial Recreation Area joined the Indy Pass for the 2026-27 season.
